Archives

Development research documentation by all IDS staff (produced by IDS or elsewhere) is held in BLDS.

Staff Papers Collection

One of the main purposes of this collection is to represent the IDS contribution to development literature over the years. It also holds much unpublished and draft or manuscript material donated by IDS researchers, helping trace the evolution of ideas through a variety of grey, as well as published, literature. For example, the Archive includes reports written by IDS staff as part of a consultancy role, journal articles and draft book chapters. Further holdings include book reviews, editorial matter and translations into other languages. The Archive also holds a full range of IDS publications and papers from conferences and seminars held here.

Although largely in print, the Archive increasingly holds print-outs of, and links to, electronic publications. Many IDS publications are now available to download free of charge from the IDS Bookshop.

IDS Classics

This is a selection of the most memorable and influential publications by IDS and its partners. Developed as part of our fortieth anniversary programme of events, it represents some of the most important work which has emerged from the Institute in the past 40 years. IDS Classics are available in full-text and can be downloaded free of charge. (View list)

Sir Dudley Seers and Sir Hans Singer

Further specialized collections include complete papers, correspondence and publications of Sir Dudley Seers and Sir Hans Singer.

To access the Archives ask at the Enquiry Desk during normal opening hours, Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.
