Document delivery

Photocopies of journal articles and parts of books can be supplied, subject to UK copyright law, to individuals and organisations for the purposes of research and private study. In some cases we have permission to copy whole documents.

Individuals: Please search the BLDS catalogue for the article or journal title you require and then click on the 'Request a copy' button. You will be asked to complete a Photocopy Request and Copyright Declaration form. This must be posted or faxed to the address given on the form before the copy can be sent to you.

Individual members of UK or Irish universities or other institutions: Your librarian or information officer may be able to obtain a photocopy of a journal article or part of a book for you through the national interlibrary loans service.

Overseas libraries and information services: Please search the BLDS catalogue for the item you require and click on the 'Request a copy' button. If you are a regular user of the BLDS Document Delivery Service you will find it helpful to open an account with us.

Developing and transition countries - Free service
Library in your letterbox:
BLDS has teamed up with the Global Development Network (GDN) to provide a document delivery service to research institutes in the South at no cost to the user. Organisations first need to set up a profile with GDN who cover the costs on your behalf. Contact should be made by the person within your organisation with responsibility for information sourcing; this might be a librarian or administrator. Find out more and sign up for this service

Interlibrary loans

Books and other documents can be supplied on loan to libraries and information centres. UK libraries should apply in the usual way through the national interlending service. Overseas libraries should e-mail requests for interlibrary loans to: docdel@ids.ac.uk or write to:
