Works "to strengthen political and financial support worldwide for population programs grounded in individual rights" and is "committed to advancing universal access to family planning and related health services and to educational and economic opportunities, especially for girls and women". Conducts a research programme and works with governments and international organisations on public policy and strategic initiatives on "on the development and implementation of international population and reproductive health policies and the identification of emerging issues in the field" and "rights-based sexual and reproductive health policies and programs". Information on population issues, including reproductive and sexual health, gender and society, and the environment. Population Council
The Population Council ... conducts biomedical, social science, and public health research ... evaluating and developing sustainable approaches to enhancing people's health and well-being." United Nations Population Division
Contains statistical data, including links to databases that allow searching and formatting of data according to the user's requirements, including World population prospects (population estimates and projections), World urbanization prospects and World population policies. Also details of the Division's publications, text of policy statements and reports, and links to population information on other UN websites.

United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)
Includes information on population issues (e.g. Reproductive health, Safer motherhood, Gender equality) and details of publications (many in full text, including The state of world population). The Worldwide section provides country profiles and population statistics for individual countries and territories; population, health and socio-economic indicators can be formatted for comparison between countries).
